The 64-year-old actress accepted the invitation which was extended to her on The View, a show with a studio audience. Legit.ng notes that Patrick said: "I'm here with a formal invitation, and it's for you, Whoopi.

Goldberg and Stewart embraced each and she told the audience that Star Trek was one of her great experiences.
She said: "You know, this was one of the great experiences of my – I’ve said this on the show before – but Star Trek was one of the great experiences from the beginning to the end. It just, you know, I had the best, best, best time, best time ever."
Stewart expressed satisfaction that Goldberg enjoyed her role in Star Trek, saying his team could not wait to have her back. Goldberg's fans took to social media to react to the development. Michelle Greene on Facebook said: "That was a beautiful moment on the View today.
I loved Whoppi's reaction and Patrick's sincerity in announcing her a returning role in this iconic show." Jenny Culverhouse said: "I grew up on her movies and when I met my husband he got me watching Star Trek lost it when I saw her character she is fantastic one of my favorite characters."
Jeff Forbes on Facebook said he likes Goldberg as an actor, but do not agree with her political views, adding that it would be interesting to see her again on Star Trek. Rodolfo Perez was also excited that Goldberg would be returning to Star Trek, saying she is a wonderful actress.
