Nicki Minaj sent shockwaves through social media on September 5, 2019, when she announced on Twitter her retirement from the music industry. Focusing on her relationship with Kenneth Petty, Nicki announced she is going to put her family first. Nicki Minaj will turn 37-years-old in December and according to her latest tweet, feels that the best time to start having children with Kenneth is now. Nicki Minaj is so committed to her relationship with Kenneth that her official Twitter name is Mrs. Petty.
It also appears that Nicki Minaj is planning on doing things legitimately as she previously shared that she and Kenneth will get married within the next three months. Exactly when the wedding will be remains a mystery, but Nicki explained several weeks ago that she and Kenneth have already applied for their marriage license. She also has plans to release her album before the official retirement kicks in.
Nicki Minaj stated the following.
“I’ll be married before my album comes out, but will have my wedding after the album comes out. Before the 90 days is over, yes, I will be married. I’m very happy about that because my baby makes me so happy.”
Here is the announcement that Nicki posted on Twitter, early Thursday morning. “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, ❌ in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. ✅ Love you for LIFE 😘♥️🦄.”
Some fans are concerned that the real reason Nicki is leaving her music career behind is due to the success of Grammy-winning artist Cardi B. Many people have compared Nicki Minaj and Cardi B since Cardi came on the scene and some feel that Cardi has stolen Nicki’s spotlight.
Additionally, Kenneth Petty is a registered sex offender and many of Nicki’s fans have been outraged by her decision to have a serious relationship with him. With so much coming against Nicki Minaj in both her personal and professional life, maybe retirement is the best thing for her. What do you think? Do you think Nicki Minaj is making a mistake?
