The first trailer for Avengers: Endgame landed Saturday giving hope to traumatized fans that Thanos’ destruction will be miraculously overturned. The movie is the sequel to Avengers: Infinity War, the flick that left audiences stunned while they watched many of their favorite superheroes vanish before their eyes. Accounts of fans breaking into tears after the movie’s premiere joined European reports that some children needed therapy following the devastating losses.
Worldwide the response was similar. People were saddened, shocked, and some traumatized that Marvel killed off so many superheroes.
Rumors circulated since Avengers: Infinity War’s release that Captain Marvel is going to save the day and possibly reverse time in order to bring them back. Brie Larson stars as Carol Danvers/ Captain Marvel. The film Captain Marvel is set for a March 8, 2019, debut. Avengers: Endgame closely follows with an April 26, 2019 release date.
Apparently, they are saving Captain Marvel themed trailers for the eponymous movie first and the Avengers: Endgame film later.
With DC announcing the loss of Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck (Superman and Batman) some fans are showing concern that not everyone will make a return to Avengers: Endgame. Competition between DC and Marvel is fierce and with the unveiling of Wonder Woman and Aquaman, both studios are on even ground. Captain Marvel has rather large boots to fill if the movie is going to come close to Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman saved the world from Aries but will Captain Marvel save the world from Thanos?
If Captain Marvel pulls this off, she (and the studios) may find themselves in the lead, especially since Wonder Woman 1984 has been pushed up to 2020.
