Following the cancelation of Kevin Hart’s hosting gig at next year’s Oscars, the comic said on his Instagram account that he felt “blessed.” The star, according to MSN.com, broke an attendance record with his Irresponsible Tour which began on the 8th of December, Saturday, just one day after he said “no” to the Oscars committee’s request for an apology.

The 39-year-old comedian posted a video of himself onstage in front of a packed Qudos Arena. He said in the video that he was totally “blown away” after selling out two performances in a row.

Kevin expressed gratefulness for being able to bring laughter to an international audience. He later revealed that his shows in Australia were the highest-earning with the most tickets sold as well.

This couldn’t come at a better time for the controversial comedian, who just this past week, had to step down from hosting the Oscars due to supposedly anti-gay tweets and homophobic remarks.

Media publications and Twitter users went into the comedian’s social media history, searching for some of the most offensive messages.

Kevin said in an Instagram video following the controversy that he has learned to love the man he has become in recent years, and no amount of negativity was going to pull him away from those feelings.

A day later, he said that he had refused to apologize for his comments in the past, so, therefore, lost out on the gig. He said he has addressed the tweets on more than one occasion, and wouldn’t talk about them again.

He didn’t want to be a “distraction on a night,” the comic wrote in his statement, that celebrates the talent and hard work of some many other artists and entertainers. Curiously, it appeared he back-peddled when Hart then apologized to the LGBTQ community.
