Tom Cruise is in the headlines for all of the wrong reasons once again, following reports that he once auditioned several of his would-be girlfriends in front of the Church of Scientology. Reportedly, Tom and the Church worked together to figure out potential suitors, all in an effort to keep up appearances.
According to a report from Fox News, via The Hollywood Reporter, Valerie Haney was once a member of Scientology’s inner elite circle called, Sea Org, for approximately twenty-two years before finally leaving the Church.
In the newest episode of Leah Remini’s docu-series, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, the former Kevin Can Wait star revealed some of the more embarrassing tidbits about the church.
Speaking with The Underground Bunker, Haney started her story off by explaining the way in which she would audition potential partners for Tom Cruise. For years rumors have circulated that The Church of Scientology performed such a function for Tom.
In the past, it was speculated by many of his fans and those in the Hollywood community that his romance and subsequent marriage to Katie Holmes was a by-product of this ceremonious and possibly illegal process.
In a statement, The Church Of Scientology denied all of the allegations, saying that Valerie was “outright lying,” and “making things up” as a part of her employment working with Leah Remini.
As most know, Tom Cruise has been verbally attacked on several occasions by the King Of Queens alum. The 48-year-old star said to The Daily Beast that Tom was one of the church’s highest ranking members, and was part of the ongoing abuse within it.
This has been going on for forever for Tom Cruise, who has been negatively associated with the Church for years. In the 2015 documentary, Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, members were supposedly involved in trying to break up Tom with his wife of the time, Nicole Kidman, who refused to be a Scientologist.
