According to a report from BET.com, Jamie Foxx is now a single man following his split from the ex-wife of Tom Cruise, whom he dated for approximately six years. Just a few days after Katie Holmes and Jamie called it off, reports stated the Ray alum is hanging around a 21-year-old singer.
Her name is Sela Vave, and she’s 21-years-old. In contrast to his former relationship with Katie, Foxx is now addressing the rumors of his love life directly. Previously, Katie and Jamie stayed relatively silent on their romance, however, Jamie has taken a different approach.
Or has he? During a chat with reporters from Big Boy, the actor actually denied he was in a relationship with the 21-year-old singer. Foxx touched on the speculation that he and Sela were in a relationship, revealing how he got involved in her career.
“People are saying I’m dating the girl,” the Ray alum stated, “let me just say this, that’s absolutely not true!” Mr. Foxx claimed it would be inappropriate because she actually hangs around his children. For instance, his oldest daughter “loves her,” and Jamie talks to her mother and father.
Jamie stated, “I know the nature of the business that we’re in,” and for that reason, he doesn’t worry about the headlines too much. Moreover, the actor pointed out the double standard in which female musicians work with male celebrities.
Jamie said he’s doing what he can to be her “elder” and confidante – rather than a lover. Mr. Foxx stated he would never be the guy who uses his position as a successful artist to hold power over a woman, essentially forcing her into an unwanted sexual relationship.
Moreover, Jamie has a 25-year-old daughter, therefore, he doesn’t think it’s appropriate for him to date a girl in the same age bracket – “ever!” As it was previously reported, Jamie Foxx and Katie Holmes called it off earlier this week, however, it hasn’t been revealed why they actually broke up.
A source who spoke to Us Magazine, however, stated Jamie was “disrespectful” to her, although, if that were the case, they probably would’ve split up ages ago.
