It is starting to feel like the custody war between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will never end. The former couple continues to disagree about the custody of their six children – Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox – and it looks like their settlement discussions have stalled.

Earlier this week Jolie filed a stipulation to extend the appointment of Judge John Ouderkirk – the privately compensated temporary judge assigned to the case – from June 2019 to December 31, 2019. Jolie also asked that Judge Ouderkirk oversee all pre-trial motions and handle the private custody trial, if necessary, according to Radar Online.

In recent weeks, multiple reports have surfaced claiming that Jolie and Pitt were working towards a custody agreement in order to avoid a trial. But, they have yet to put anything in writing, and that means no one knows what will happen in this case.

The former couple needs to work out the custody of their children before moving on to other parts of the divorce, and they want to save their children from a bitter custody trial. So, the expectation is that Jolie and Pitt will figure something out, so they can avoid a trial. Insiders say that Pitt and Jolie continue to fight about the amount of time that Pitt will get with the kids. Jolie wants him to have minimal custody, but it looks like if they are going to reach a settlement, she is going to have to allow him to have more time with the kids. Finally, it looks they have realized that a never-ending fight is hurting their children. So, instead of going through a nasty, private trial, they are doing everything they can to finalize a custody agreement. But it hasn’t been easy.

Sources claim that Jolie was planning on using the child abuse allegations against Pitt from the 2016 incident that ended their marriage, even though Pitt was never charged with a crime. And, a trial would most likely take months of grueling litigation involving the kids, after already being subjected to custody evaluations. If Jolie and Pitt can come to an agreement and sign a deal, it will save their family from having to go through all of that and allow them to focus on the financial part of the divorce.

Before the divorce can become final, they are going to have to go through hundreds of millions of dollars in cash and assets, and that could also take months. Insiders say that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are close to finding some common ground. And, if nothing extreme happens, they will settle the matter soon for the sake of their family.
