According to a report from The Los Angeles Times, Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin has done exceedingly well at the box office over this past Memorial Day Weekend, with a staggering $86.1 million opening and estimates claim it’ll likely hit $105,000,000 after the first weekend, reports Comscore.
At the international box office, the movie earned approximately $121 million, making around $207.1 million in total. In the movie, Will Smith plays the Genie, Naomi Scott is Jasmine, and Mena Massoud is the titular character, Aladdin.
Despite the fact the film was universally praised by audience-goers, it only got a 58% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. As Disney fans know, their live-action remakes have done exceptionally well, including Beauty and The Beast from 2017 as well as Alice In Wonderland, and The Jungle Book.
This comes after a few big disappointments on Disney’s end, including Alice Through The Looking Glass, Tomorrowland, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, as well as Prince Of Persia. Regarding other films, Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, earned $24.3 million through Sunday, finishing off with $101 million in total.
