Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have revealed they had a health intervention with their son Jaden Smith.
On Monday’s episode of Red Table Talk the entire Smith clan gathered for their most intimate interview to date. Will and Jada were joined by Willow, Jaden, Trey and Jada’s mom Adrienne Banfield-Jones for the candid conversation that began with food.
The Men In Black star got real about gaining weight while on vacation. Will admitted when he gets bored he eats by continuously grazing on food all day. Jada is the opposite of her famous husband. She would rather not eat then pick at food throughout the day.
After Jada revealed, Jaden is like her when it comes to food. The revelation led to Jada sharing she, and Will had to have a “bit of an intervention” with their son.
“Will and I had a bit of an intervention with Jaden because he’s a vegan now, but we realized he wasn’t getting enough protein. So, he was wasting away. He just looked drained, he was just depleted, he wasn’t getting the nutrients,” Jada spilled.
Will echoed his wife’s concerns by expressing his thoughts on the effect Jaden’s lifestyle was taking on the 21-year-old. “There was even a little grayness to his skin. We got really nervous. But you’re definitely looking better now,” papa Smith explained.
It wasn’t that the Smith’s disapproved of Jaden being vegan. They grew concerned the young man was not getting enough nutrients, which can happen when some people switch to a vegan or vegetarian way of life. Jaden, for his part, did admit to not getting enough food. He also clarified he goes back and forth between being vegetarian and vegan.
“I was just eating like two meals a day…maybe one,” Jaden continued. “Maybe just that one big meal and I’m like, ‘Oh, you know, I didn’t get around to it. I also just wanna say that I’m vegetarian, that I’ve tried to be vegan. I’m vegetarian, you know, I’ve tried to eat vegan meals. I’ll go vegan for a week or so but for the past year I’ve been vegetarian,” Jaden shared.
Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith held a health intervention for their son Jaden. It was not to change his lifestyle but because of their concern for his well-being.
The intervention is only a small part of what the Smith family shared on Red Table Talk.
